Old Republic Surety Company (ORSC) is actively searching for a Vice President of Commercial Surety Operations to become a vital member of its Field Leadership Team. This role is responsible for overseeing the management of designated branch offices and providing leadership and development to branch staff. The position entails recommending authority levels and coordinating underwriting submissions for branch offices within the assigned region. Experience in Surety Underwriting and Surety Marketing is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and mentor direct reports, making recommendations for performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Facilitate training for team members to achieve their objectives. Additionally, participate in the recruitment process for new employees.
  • Manage the operations of assigned branch offices, offering guidance and development to branch personnel. Assist in creating training programs for field staff.
  • Champion Old Republic Surety Company's contract surety underwriting standards and ensure adherence to these standards. Collaborate with the Home Office to assess underwriting guidelines.
  • Propose authority levels and conditions for Bond Managers and Underwriters within the designated region to the Home Office for approval.
  • Coordinate and authorize all underwriting submissions within the assigned territory, serving as the primary contact for submissions exceeding authority limits. Aid Bond Managers and Underwriters in preparing submissions for Home Office review.
  • Review annual business plans for assigned branch offices. Develop annual business plans and budgets for the region. Provide strategic direction for executing business plans and monitor performance against company objectives.
  • Implement expense management strategies with Bond Managers to align with budgetary goals and enhance overall profitability.
  • Engage in sales and underwriting initiatives related to agency management and business development. Cultivate relationships with key brokers and agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
This role necessitates a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of eight years in a related capacity, or a suitable combination of education and experience.

To excel as a Vice President, one must operate independently and effectively in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office applications is required. Essential skills include exceptional verbal and written communication, strong organizational abilities, meticulous proofreading skills, and the capacity to maintain accurate records. The role also demands discretion with confidential information, keen attention to detail, and the ability to utilize various office equipment.

This position involves frequent travel by motor vehicle, public transport, and/or air travel. A valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle operator's record, as defined by company procedures, are required.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: This role requires prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing and walking. The position may involve pushing, pulling, carrying, or lifting items up to 10 pounds. No personal protective equipment is necessary, and ergonomic equipment is available for employees.ABOUT US:
