About the Position

Under the direction of senior management, the Financial Services Professional II will provide high-level financial services to County departments and agencies. This includes budget development and processing, contract negotiation and administration, financial planning and monitoring, financial accounting and reporting, and grants management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer multiple budgets, ensuring compliance with County policies and procedures.
  • Monitor fiscal transactions and audit fiscal records and documentation to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Plan and conduct administrative and operational studies to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Interpret, explain, and apply financial regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Direct the work of others on a project or day-to-day basis, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written materials to communicate financial information to stakeholders.
  • Represent the County in meetings with other departments, agencies, and external partners to discuss financial matters and negotiate contracts.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet critical deadlines, maintaining accurate financial records and audit data.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment within established policies and guidelines, making decisions that impact the financial well-being of the County.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, accounting, economics, financial planning, or a related field.
  • One year of full-time professional-level experience in areas of budget development and processing, contract negotiation and administration, financial planning and monitoring, financial accounting and reporting, grant management, or similar financial services.
  • Knowledge of governmental financial processes and systems, including budget development and administration, contract and grant administration, financial record-keeping and auditing practices, and administrative analysis and report preparation.
  • Ability to develop and administer multiple budgets, monitor fiscal transactions, and audit fiscal records and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the County in meetings and negotiations.
