Ophthalmic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at the University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmology and optometry teams.
Job Summary:The Ophthalmic Technician will assist with complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures, complete patient intake activities, and perform routine technical procedures. You will work closely with our medical team to develop and maintain a high-quality acute eye care program that prioritizes responsiveness, timeliness, compassion, and safety.
Responsibilities:- Assist with complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures
- Complete patient intake activities, including phone calls and electronic messages
- Perform routine technical procedures, such as Amsler tests, Stereo tests, and Applanation tonometry
- Work with the acute eye care medical team to develop and maintain a high-quality acute eye care program
- Provide patient education and demonstrate age-specific patient interaction
To be successful in this role, you will need to have completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience, or equivalent education/experience. You must also be certified as an Ophthalmic Assistant.
