Job Summary:

As a key member of the Calpine team, the Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing payroll from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This includes working closely with internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary data, preparing reconciliations and funding requests, and analyzing payroll data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll from beginning to end, including data collection, reconciliation, and payment processing
  • Prepare and submit funding requests and reconciliations to ensure timely payment
  • Analyze payroll data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Maintain payroll database integrity and ensure accurate data entry
  • Validate and audit timesheets to ensure compliance and accurate payment
  • Process non-standard payroll transactions, including merit increases, bonuses, and tax equalization
  • Provide information to third-party administrators, such as short-term disability administrators and tax agencies
  • Process termination payments in accordance with state guidelines
  • Assist with auditing and reconciling quarterly and annual tax returns
  • Develop and maintain payroll metrics and reports as needed

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent, required; Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferred
  • Typically requires 3 years of payroll experience
  • Solid background in automated payroll systems, preferably UKG, ADP, or similar, and their reporting tools
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
