Position Overview: Service Controls Engineer for Automated Machinery

The Service Controls Engineer will be instrumental in delivering technical assistance and troubleshooting operational challenges for our clients, as well as implementing system enhancements. This role primarily involves addressing issues related to robotics, vision systems, and software updates. Familiarity with Epson and Fanuc robotics, Keyence and Cognex vision systems, and Allen Bradley PLC and HMI software is essential. We seek a candidate who can swiftly identify and resolve issues on-site, ensuring optimal machine performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site evaluations at client facilities, dedicating up to 50% of time to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated systems, focusing on SDC's robotic and vision control systems.
  • Offer technical support through various channels, including phone and email, to efficiently resolve client inquiries.
  • Work collaboratively with SDC engineering teams to address complex operational and maintenance challenges.
  • Evaluate the performance of installed systems, identifying opportunities for enhancement and providing optimization recommendations.
  • Represent SDC professionally, promoting our reputation as a leading provider of custom machinery and related services.
  • Document and maintain accurate post-service reports and relevant information.
  • Engage with internal teams to collect client feedback, contributing to the ongoing improvement of our products and services.
  • Support project management and other departments to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in vision systems, robotics, PLC, and HMI controls, with a strong background in troubleshooting and maintaining automated machinery.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 50% of the time.
  • Formal training in the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated equipment, particularly with Epson and Fanuc robots, Keyence and Cognex vision systems, and Allen Bradley PLC/HMI programming.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to perform under pressure.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach, fostering lasting relationships and effectively executing projects to encourage repeat business.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Physical capability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
