Position Overview: The Service Controls Engineer for Automated Machines at SDC is essential in delivering technical assistance and troubleshooting operational challenges for our clientele while implementing system enhancements. This role primarily focuses on diagnosing and rectifying issues related to robotics, vision systems, and software updates. Our standard technologies include Epson & Fanuc robots, Keyence & Cognex vision systems, and Allen Bradley PLC and HMI software. We seek a candidate who can swiftly identify and resolve issues at client sites, making this an exciting opportunity for those passionate about automation technology and adept at problem-solving in dynamic settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site visits to client facilities, up to 50% of the time, to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated systems, focusing on updating SDC robot, vision, PLC, and HMI controls on existing machines.
- Provide timely technical support to clients through various communication channels to resolve issues effectively.
- Work collaboratively with SDC engineering teams to leverage collective expertise in addressing complex operational and maintenance challenges.
- Monitor system performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend optimization strategies.
- Represent SDC professionally, promoting our reputation as a leading provider of custom machinery and services.
- Ensure accurate documentation of post-service reports and other relevant information.
- Gather customer feedback in collaboration with internal teams to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of products and services.
- Support project management and other departments to guarantee timely and precise service delivery.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in vision systems, robotics, PLC, and HMI controls, with a strong background in troubleshooting and maintaining automated machinery.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally at least 50% of the time.
- Formal technical training in the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated equipment, specifically with Epson & Fanuc robots, Keyence & Cognex vision systems, and Allen Bradley PLC/HMI programming.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities and thrive under pressure.
- Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain a strong customer service focus, capable of building lasting relationships and executing projects effectively to foster repeat business.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical capability to lift and transport heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs.
