Job Summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our legal team as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager. This is a unique opportunity to work with a leading senior housing provider and contribute to the development and implementation of our Compliance Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Compliance Program: Ensure adherence to all applicable statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Manage Compliance Operations: Monitor and report on compliance activities, including day-to-day operations of the Program.
  • Conduct Periodical Reviews and Audits: Develop and complete periodical reviews, updates, and audits of Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance.
  • Oversee Healthcare Compliance Program: Implement and maintain the Healthcare Compliance Program, including HIPAA, Stark laws, anti-kickback, False Claims Act, and qui tams.
  • Identify and Address Compliance Vulnerabilities: Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, and develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.
  • Respond to Alleged Violations: Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct, and oversee a system for uniform handling of such violations.
  • Ensure Compliance Reporting: Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Provide Regular Reports: Provide regular reports to Senior Management and the Board on the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Revises Compliance Program: Revises the Compliance Program considering changes in the needs of the organization due to changes in applicable statutes, regulations, and government policies.
  • Develop Educational Programs: Develop, coordinate, and participate in educational and training programs to ensure that all appropriate personnel are knowledgeable about, and act in accordance with, the Compliance Program and all pertinent federal and state requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree: Bachelor's degree/Master's degree or the equivalent years of experience preferred.
  • Healthcare Compliance Experience: Seven plus years healthcare compliance/regulatory experience preferred.
  • Senior Housing Experience: Home Health and/or senior housing experience preferred but not required.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong knowledge and understanding of healthcare compliance programs in implementing and managing compliance programs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrates ability in compliance, safety and security, policy implementation, and/or auditing.
  • Federal and State Laws: Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.
