Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Operations department, you will be responsible for leading and managing the OLS Chemical Processing team, ensuring the safe and repeatable production of space flight hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the OLS Chemical Processing team, overseeing the development and implementation of processes and procedures to ensure high-quality production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain resource plans and profiles, authorizing job descriptions, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Manage chemical processing operations, establishing and maintaining a clear understanding of products, processes, and configured work orders.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose non-conformances, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Forecast and develop recovery plans for constraints critical to vehicle delivery schedules.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance area safety and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in physical sciences or engineering, or 5+ years of experience in chemical processing for corrosion protection of fracture critical hardware.
  • 3+ years of experience in direct management/leadership of personnel, working on development programs or production lines involving a range of processes and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and procedures.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team, including specialists, technicians, engineers, and scientists.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools, including LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma principles, and Kaizen.
  • Ability to handle multiple decisions based on workload dispersion, program priorities, and management and customer decisions.
  • U.S. citizenship or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in physical sciences or engineering, with a deep understanding of chemical processing for corrosion resistance of alloy systems.
  • Formal leadership and business training/education.
  • Experience independently managing personnel, projects, and tasks with limited oversight.
  • Experience managing aerospace FOD and 5S programs.
  • Experience interfacing with all levels of personnel and presenting detailed status and outcomes to senior leadership.
