This position falls under Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security, providing essential Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin locations.
As a Supervisor for Material Handling, you will lead a dedicated team of specialists, overseeing, coordinating, and managing the material handling operations. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the efficient and timely movement, storage, and distribution of materials essential for production and other operational needs. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, leadership capabilities, and a steadfast commitment to upholding high safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight- Supervise and coordinate the activities of material handling personnel, ensuring the timely distribution of materials to production lines and various departments.
- Evaluate and enhance workflows to boost efficiency and productivity, contributing to operational success.
- Manage inventory levels effectively, balancing the need for adequate supplies while minimizing excess stock.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols and regulations, fostering a secure work environment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations regarding material handling and storage.
- Lead, mentor, and cultivate a team that exemplifies a strong work ethic and dedication, promoting a positive and collaborative atmosphere.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support team members' growth.
- Collaborate closely with production managers, suppliers, and team members to identify material requirements and ensure seamless coordination.
- Address and resolve any issues related to materials and inventory, proactively finding solutions to maintain uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain effective communication channels within the team and across departments, fostering a culture of collaboration.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory levels, and team performance, ensuring data integrity for informed decision-making.
- Utilize material handling software and tools for tracking and reporting, streamlining processes to enhance efficiency.
- Assist in budget planning and managing material handling expenses, contributing to the financial health of operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in material handling or a similar supervisory capacity.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
- Proficiency in material handling and inventory management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Certification in forklift operation or material handling.
- Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems.
