Role Overview

This position plays a crucial role in the advancement and functioning of New Glenn, a heavy-lift launch vehicle designed for regular transportation of both personnel and cargo to Earth's orbit and beyond. With a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is paving the way for future space endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the ordnance inventory for New Glenn Launch Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT CFR 49 & IATA Hazardous Material Shipping Certification.
  • Oversee the tracking of ordnance items from suppliers and manage delivery and receipt processes.
  • Maintain a comprehensive Master Ordnance List and assign serial numbers by vehicle using FIFO methodology.
  • Schedule and coordinate Service Life Testing (SLT) and arrange ordnance shipments for testing and offsite work.
  • Collaborate with Ordnance Services for the receipt, storage, and delivery of ordnance materials.
  • Monitor the status of ordnance lots and testing, as well as industry notifications regarding similar ordnance systems.

Project Management

  • Manage assigned projects, including planning, development, and change management, while providing input for budget development.
  • Coordinate daily business relationships and expectations to align with overall operational deliverables.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers to support strategic planning and master scheduling efforts.
  • Provide leadership that emphasizes problem-solving at the root cause level to prevent recurring issues.

Training and Compliance

  • Review and contribute to ordnance operations training materials for the Blue Learning Management System.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on explosives safety and handling.
  • Obtain necessary certifications, including BATF employee possessor certification and relevant state licenses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ordnance operations and inventory management.
  • Strong communication skills for effective representation of Blue Origin in various scenarios.
  • Experience in developing and executing launch operations procedures.
  • Ability to pass background investigations for access to secure facilities.
  • Knowledge of BATF regulations and the capacity to work independently under pressure.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and work in challenging climate conditions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have lawful residency status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • 8 years of operations experience, including leadership roles in technical product management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and project management tools.
  • Experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
