Job Title: Transportation Planner 2

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Planner 2 to join our team at the State of Connecticut. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for planning and reviewing transportation projects to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct transportation planning studies and reviews to identify potential impacts on cultural resources
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these impacts and ensure compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including local, regional, and federal agencies, to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Prepare and review reports, studies, and surveys to support transportation planning decisions
  • Provide expert guidance and training to department staff on transportation planning and cultural resource management
Requirements:
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in transportation civil engineering or transportation, urban, regional, or environmental planning
  • One (1) year of the General Experience must include individual responsibility for the coordination of complex planning projects in a relevant planning area
  • Ability to meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards
  • Experience applying federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance associated with cultural resources to projects and guiding projects through the Section 106 process
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in architectural history, archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, or a closely related field
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and presenting reports or documents related to cultural resources
  • Experience identifying and implementing avoidance and mitigation measures to protect cultural resources, including preparing Section 106 agreement documents
