Job Summary

The City of Lufkin is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crew Leader II to lead a team of workers engaged in the maintenance, repair, and construction of water and sewer infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members, ensuring efficient work performance and adherence to established procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress, providing regular updates to management.
  • Provide training to crew members on safety protocols, equipment operation, and job-specific tasks, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure the quality of workmanship and adherence to standards, identifying and addressing issues that may arise during projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve challenges and ensure smooth operations, enforcing safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents promptly, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in water and sewer maintenance, construction, or a related field is required, including experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • A Valid Texas Driver's License is required at the time of placement and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of water and sewer systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of machines and equipment such as backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and varying environmental conditions.
Working Conditions

This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.

$18.90 per hour
