Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program Specialist

S.T.A.R. Programs is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in providing housing support services to young adults in our Transitional Housing and Rapid Rehousing Programs.
Responsibilities- Provide housing support services to young adults, including navigating the housing market, completing forms and documentation, and following up with applications.
- Assist young adults with transportation to attend housing tours and complete other necessary tasks.
- Maintain consistent communication with young adults and coworkers, including in-person meetings and phone calls.
- Abide by HIPAA and confidentiality standards, as well as HUD guidance and expectations for documentation and monitoring.
- Network with community services and organizations, and maintain professional working relationships with government agencies and property owners.
- Conduct rent reasonableness reviews and assist with locating housing opportunities based on young adult need and choice.
- Provide housing workshops to staff and young adults on tenant-landlord rights and responsibilities.
- Document and submit financial assistance forms according to HUD standards and agency policies.
- Maintain up-to-date records in HMIS and young adult files, and conduct inspections of potential units to ensure they meet standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning and Housing, or Social or Behavioral Science.
- At least one year of experience with property management, locating housing opportunities, and working with property managers.
- Lived experience, knowledge of Housing First, Positive Youth Development, and Trauma-Informed Care models are prioritized.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check, possess a valid driver's license for at least 5 years, and have a clean driving record.
- Ability to communicate effectively and have strong interpersonal and listening skills.
