Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Youth Peer Educator to join our team at Unity Care Group. As a key member of our Community Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting transitional-aged youth in accessing and navigating our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Facilitation: Deliver training and support to fellow youth, providing insights and recommendations for program development and service improvements.
  • Community Outreach: Collaborate with community partners to expand the network of available services, leveraging personal connections and insights to enhance program effectiveness and outreach.
  • Client Support: Offer empathetic support to clients, responding to challenges and ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of client service history and progress, highlighting the unique journey and achievements of each individual.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, using strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Requirements
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with transitional-aged youth or similar populations.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of the challenges faced by youth on the verge of homelessness and knowledge of local resources and services for transitional-aged youth.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to support/facilitate training sessions and workshops, and ability to work in a DSS Community Care Licensed Facility.
  • Certifications: Must have CPR and First Aid certificate within 10 days of start date and maintain a current certificate with Human Resources.
  • Clearance: Must clear a Department of Justice background check including fingerprinting before start date and maintain clearance.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Employees are occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Weight: Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving: Must have a car, valid California Driver License and be able to drive, have a clean driving record and maintain a clean driving record.
