JOB OVERVIEW
The Lead Cloud Systems Architect will serve as a technical authority responsible for the design, execution, and upkeep of cost-effective cloud infrastructures and applications that underpin both customer-facing and enterprise-level products and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In this capacity, the Lead Cloud Systems Architect will:
  • Collaborate closely with Application, Infrastructure, and Network teams to assess cloud infrastructure and pinpoint areas for cost efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities by analyzing usage patterns, billing information, and cloud service consumption.
  • Develop and implement strategies aimed at reducing cloud service expenses while ensuring high service quality and performance.
  • Work in conjunction with various technical teams, including software engineering, data engineering, enterprise architecture, and DevOps, to ensure that cloud-based applications are designed with a focus on cost efficiency.
  • Establish an innovative operational model for cost savings and optimization solutions across public cloud providers.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience/certification.
  • A minimum of 7 years in information technology, including at least 5 years in cloud technologies such as IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing and executing FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies.
  • Proficiency in OS scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Experience with cloud cost management tools and a strong comfort level with data analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Experience managing substantial accounts with multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • A deep understanding of cloud costs and alternative solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in administering and implementing automation in public cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible, adhering to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Experience in container management and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven track record in designing and engineering large-scale distributed systems.
  • Ability to deliver technology solutions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of working independently and leading cross-functional teams.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
  • Monitoring cloud usage to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implementing cost optimization actions across various cloud services.
  • Managing automated tools to track cost trends and anomalies.
  • Collaborating with finance and business teams to align cloud expenditures with budgetary constraints.
  • Providing technical leadership and governance for service delivery.
  • Developing and generating reports to provide visibility into performance, capacity, and service level agreements.

IT GOVERNANCE
Adhering to defined IT standards and processes, providing input for improvements as necessary. Ensuring compliance with security protocols and maintaining a balance between business and operational risk.

SERVICE PROVIDER MANAGEMENT
Coordinating with IT and vendor relations teams to ensure continuous service improvement and operational availability.
