The Support organization within OCI is tasked with developing new services that operate efficiently at scale.

We tackle complex, large-scale connected event platforms, which include services such as the Oracle Support Center and Oracle Support Digital Assistant.


These services are essential to the customer experience provided by OCI, presenting a variety of technical challenges and opportunities for innovation.


In the OCI Support Tooling team, our commitment is to create a scalable platform that meets the evolving demands of Oracle Cloud.

Our objective is to optimize support costs while ensuring a premier support experience for our customers. We leverage advanced rule-based systems and machine learning-driven alerting, along with interactive bots to assist with customer inquiries. We seek engineers who are hands-on, possess expertise, and are passionate about resolving challenging issues in distributed systems and highly available services.

As a Software Engineer, you will take ownership of the software design and development for key components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure.

You should be a proficient coder and a generalist in distributed systems, capable of engaging with any part of the technology stack and designing comprehensive distributed system interactions.

You should appreciate simplicity and scalability, thrive in a collaborative, agile environment, and be eager to learn.

About You

You prioritize user needs, focusing on creating software that is not only functional but also enjoyable to use.

You possess strong communication skills, allowing you to convey complex technical concepts clearly.

You collaborate effectively with non-engineers, leading discussions with designers, engineers, and product managers.

You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and possess a strong sense of ownership, driving new projects and features to completion across all levels of the technology stack.

Minimum Qualifications

- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in object-oriented programming (Java/C++)
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and fundamentals of distributed systems
- Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
- Understanding of Internet protocols and standards, including SMTP, REST, SSL, and HTTP
- Strong knowledge of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Computer Science
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment
- Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka
- Experience in delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems
- Strong understanding of Unix-like operating systems
- Experience in building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a significant advantage.
