Position Overview:
At Mathematica, we leverage our expertise at the convergence of technology, data, methodologies, policy, and practice to enhance global well-being.
We work in close collaboration with both public and private sector partners to transform significant inquiries into profound insights that refine programs, optimize strategies, and deepen understanding through the use of technology and advanced analytics.
Our initiatives provide actionable insights that inform decisions across a variety of policy domains, including health, education, early childhood, family support, nutrition, employment, disability, and international development.
Mathematica is committed to offering competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, alongside the unique advantage of being entirely employee-owned.
As an employee stock owner, you will enjoy the financial rewards of ESOP holdings that have grown in alignment with the company's success and financial robustness.
Moreover, you will be part of an independent, employee-owned organization that can define and advance our mission, enhance our quality and accountability, and consistently strengthen our financial position.
About the Role:
We are in search of a dedicated Lead Client Solutions Architect who is enthusiastic about steering mission-critical projects and technical teams in developing data-driven solutions that influence decision-making in U.S. health care policy.
This role is client-facing and entails taking ownership of the technical solution while managing the relationship between the client, a federal policy entity, and Mathematica for specific projects or engagements.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in navigating complex client dynamics, overseeing large health technology initiatives, and designing technological solutions across various domains (e.g., data architecture, data modeling, data analytics, visualization, application development, cloud engineering, etc.).
We encourage individuals who are passionate about tackling the challenges associated with large, intricate data sets and interdependent systems, who have an interest in data manipulation and analysis, and who are keen on leading and developing a team of developers, as well as building robust client relationships with Federal partners, to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead multidisciplinary teams in the development and delivery of data-driven applications, data warehouses, interactive dashboards, data analytics, and visualization products; as well as research and advisory services.
Take accountability for all project deliverables alongside operations and maintenance, while innovating and enhancing clients' data systems, tools, resources, and services.
Oversee the design and development of high-availability data storage, ETL, and analytic systems, performing analytics with large primary and secondary data sources to effectively address research questions and inform health care policy decisions.
Ensure robust operational processes are established to support mission-critical, 24/7 systems with extensive user bases, including help desk delivery, training, and technical assistance for diverse user populations, remaining highly responsive to client needs.
Incorporate client and stakeholder requirements into solution design, communication strategies, and project scope.
Engage with clients to explain technical concepts, spending 50% or more of your time interfacing with clients who possess a mix of technical and non-technical backgrounds (including occasional in-person meetings).
Manage complex and often competing stakeholder expectations, primarily engaging with research, program, or technology offices, including executive leadership of federal agencies.
Develop a budget and staffing plan to deliver the required solutions within the context of internal and external constraints, as well as Mathematica's contractual and regulatory obligations.
Effectively manage cost, schedule, scope, and quality for large, complex technology and data projects with multiple parallel deliverables.
Evaluate internal project functions and processes, proposing enhancements to meet project deliverables in a timely manner and within budget.
Collaborate across internal technology, analytics, and advisory services teams.
Actively support the advancement of organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, applying a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens throughout job responsibilities.
Utilize strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to mitigate project risks.
Contribute to business growth through significant proposal contributions (expressions of interest, planning/design, content, budget staffing, successfully directing projects, etc.)
Qualifications:
Requirements:
A graduate degree is preferred in computer science, information systems/science, public health, public policy, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
10+ years of experience in implementing data collection, ETL, storage, analysis, and visualization solutions, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
5 years of experience managing Federal, State, or commercial projects.
Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile (Scrum/Kanban), and iterative development methodologies, as well as standard and best practices for data analytics, application development, and enterprise data platforms.
Familiarity with data architecture, data modeling, data analytics, visualization, application development, and cloud engineering.
Experience in healthcare technology and/or public health technology.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus.
Demonstrated quantitative and analytical capabilities.
Excellent communication skills to convey findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as internal and external clients.
Understanding of change management and matrix organizational management.
Experience with IT procurement, including negotiations with software vendors, and familiarity with federal government procurement processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
Experience in building and leading teams.
Compensation:
This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $145,000 - $185,000, and is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
Equal Opportunity:
