Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Associate to join our team. As a key member of our medical office, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth clinic, patient, and billing flow by greeting and directing patients to their various appointments, preparing the daily clinic schedule, and updating the physicians' schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Handle high-volume incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Review patient charts and insurance referrals/authorizations to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Assist physicians and administrators with business and patient care responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and preparing billing sheets.
  • Coordinate office communication flow and ensure effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information, and ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Answer telephones using correct telephone etiquette and handle incoming calls, messages, and inquiries.
  • Review patient intake information to verify insurance coverage and ensure accurate billing.
  • Responsible for scheduling new and follow-up appointments, including patient testing and procedures.
  • Act in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner, recognizing individual religious, ethical, and moral opinions and beliefs.
  • Bring new ideas, a positive attitude, and lots of energy to the team.
  • Responsible for maintaining and recording patient schedules, including co-pays, deductibles, and other payments.
  • Reconcile patient payments on a daily basis and prepare billing sheets for submission.
  • Direct billing inquiries to the appropriate Regional Office and ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years of recent experience in a related position in a medical office preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize job duties and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks at one time.
  • Superior customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge and experience with medical software preferred.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, obstetrical and/or perinatal coding, office billing forms, insurance, and government payer regulations preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail capabilities.
