Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. This role involves the delivery of both direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative environment, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

The Registered Nurse will coordinate patient care with the surgical team, including the surgeon and anesthesiologist, while also guiding the OR Technician and other staff members to uphold professional nursing standards. Collaboration with various departments is essential to ensure a seamless continuum of care, efficient patient flow, and effective unit organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to all relevant regulations, standards, and hospital policies.
  • Participating in Performance Improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and in-service training.
  • Serving as a resource for colleagues as needed.
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience:

  • Possession of a current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintenance of certification.
  • ACLS (AHA) certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • PALS (AHA) certification required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained.
  • A minimum of one year of prior perioperative experience or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Certification as a Nurse OR (CNOR) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
