Job Title: Teen Choir Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teen Choir Director to join our Music Ministry team at Eastern Star Church. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing our Teen Choir, Sunday Worship, and Teen Praise Team, as well as providing musical instruction and supervision to assigned musicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and direct the Teen Choir, Sunday Worship, and Teen Praise Team, providing musical instruction and supervision to assigned musicians.
  • Consult with the Director of Music Ministries regarding the order of worship and selection of choral music.
  • Coordinate rehearsal schedules for assigned choirs and praise teams.
  • Coordinate the work schedule for assigned musicians in collaboration with the Director of Music.
  • Supervise assigned musicians and report information to the Director of Music Ministries.
  • Consult with the Director of Music Ministries regarding the hiring and firing of assigned musicians.
  • Responsible for completing room requisition forms for the Teen Choir and Praise Team.
  • Responsible for processing assigned accounts payables.
  • Develop and maintain a music library for designated choirs and praise teams.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Praise & Worship PowerPoint presentations for Teen/Young Adult worship services.
  • Assist in the coordination of special Teen/Young Adult events, such as Youth Conference, Lock-Ins, and Young Adult events.
  • Provide music for Quarterly Teen Ignite Worship experience for Youth Church.
  • Provide music for Young Adult/Crew events when necessary.
  • Schedule time daily to learn and practice material for assigned ministry rehearsals.
  • Provide music for funerals at Eastern Star Church as designated.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Eastern Star Church assigned musicians.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 3 years related experience and/or training in a gospel music environment. High level of musical skills derived from extensive choral training or experience.

  • Language Skills:

Ability to present and provide instruction to musicians and choir members, and ability to communicate effectively to motivate musicians and choir members. Ability to interact with the congregation and work with church staff. Able to read, understand, and interpret a variety of musical documents.

  • Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Reasoning Ability:

Ability to create practical solutions to problems in a timely manner. Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Other Skills, Abilities, Qualifications, Etc.:

Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain a high-quality music program. Continue to maintain and improve the necessary musical skills. Must be available for all Sunday services, midweek services, occasional holidays, and choir rehearsals. Available for meetings and occasional services such as funerals. Must be conscientious, trustworthy, loyal, and dependable.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; and speak and hear. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment:

Work performed primarily indoors. The environment can become very loud.
