About the Position:
We are seeking a highly qualified Lecturer and Foundational Course Director to join our team at Butler University's Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism and Creative Media. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in Critical Communication and Media Studies, as well as overseeing the college's required courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in Critical Communication and Media Studies, including courses in the candidate's area of expertise
- Oversee the college's required courses, including public speaking, media literacy, and other foundational courses
- Develop and implement curriculum for the Critical Communication and Media Studies major
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the college
- Participate in departmental and college-wide service, including committee work and curriculum development
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (PhD) in communication or related field (ABD considered)
- Potential for successful management of the foundational courses within the college
- Demonstrated ability to teach courses within the CCM major, public speaking, and/or media literacy
- Excellent written communication skills
- Expressed desire to work with students, faculty, and staff from socially and culturally diverse backgrounds
