Language and Communication Specialist

Description: The Language and Communication Specialist plays a vital role in delivering preventive, evaluative, and corrective services for students encountering challenges in language, speech, voice, and fluency. The primary objective is to foster a supportive, secure, and productive educational atmosphere that empowers students to reach their academic aspirations.
Responsibilities:
- Promote and uphold a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Conduct observations, screenings, and assessments to evaluate students' performance levels and determine their eligibility for services.
- Deliver direct instruction to students, collaborate with educational staff, and formulate individualized educational plans.
- Oversee student behavior and manage necessary equipment and supplies.
- Ensure adherence to guidelines while pursuing ongoing professional development.
- Skills: Execute technical tasks, analyze performance data, and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge: Grasp intervention strategies, competency-based education principles, and student management techniques.
- Abilities: Organize activities, engage with diverse groups, and interpret relevant laws and policies.
- Experience: Relevant experience in social communication intervention and the use of assistive technology.
- Education: Relevant educational background.
- Certificates & Licenses: Valid teaching license with a speech endorsement and CPR/First Aid certification.
