The primary role of the Heavy Machinery Maintenance Technician is to conduct thorough evaluations, routine upkeep, and minor repairs on substantial mobile machinery. This function is crucial for ensuring the safety and dependability of essential assets utilized in the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute comprehensive assessments of machinery and document existing or potential issues.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, including lubrication and adjustments.
  • Keep maintenance and storage areas for oils and parts organized and safe.
  • Manage inventories of components and materials necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure proper disposal of used fluids and other hazardous materials.
  • Perform minor repairs or additional tasks as required.
  • Engage in the planning of upcoming maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This position is conducted entirely in a mining environment, either underground or on the surface. The role frequently involves operating heavy machinery.

Physical Requirements

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for handling tools or controls, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Work Hours
This is a full-time role. Flexibility to work split shifts or night shifts is preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
