Job Summary

The CAT Scan Technologist is responsible for performing routine and special procedure imaging, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting radiologists. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of radiation protection and be able to apply principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others. This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol
Assists physicians during procedures as necessary
Performs equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed
Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories
Processes images, or prints CD's if needed
Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray system

Requirements

The CAT Scan Technologist must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit is required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and or (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection. Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire. Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth. DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation. BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire. Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
