Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at White Plains Hospital. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and special procedure imaging, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting radiologists as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol.
  • Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produce good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality and completeness.
  • Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
  • Perform quality assurance and calibrations as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all areas, equipment, and accessories.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment to MRI supervisor.
  • Prints patient CD if needed.
  • Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports/films, documents information on patients request, utilizes EMR and PACS systems.
  • Notifies front desk staff upon exam completion.
  • Shows radiologist images and calls report to attending physician and documents communication if necessary (STAT readings).
  • May be assigned as instructor or preceptor.
  • Introduces themselves and educates each patient or family member regarding the examination that is ordered.
  • Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-services.

Requirements:

  • Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
  • Technologist must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT), ARMRIT become ARRT MR certified within 1 year of hire.
  • BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.
  • IV certification preferred or by completion of 6 month.
  • Safety certification level 2 required yearly.

Work Environment:

Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside all of the MRI zones to access coils, patients and paperwork. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks.
