Cat Scan Technologist Job Description

At Prominent Career Solutions, LLC, we are seeking a skilled Cat Scan Technologist to join our team. As a Cat Scan Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and special procedure imaging, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting radiologists. You will also be responsible for preparing, operating, and caring for the equipment being used, as well as processing images and CDs when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol
Assumes responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality, completeness of the type of test ordered
Assists physicians during procedures as necessary
Performs equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know when supplies are low and need to be ordered
Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department
Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or Senior staff
Processes images, or prints CD's if needed
Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray system
Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor
May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor
Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospitals' behavioral standards.

Requirements:

Must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program
NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required
ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT)
Documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection
Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire
Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies
Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth
DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation
BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire
Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork

The person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their test and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
Frequently move and position patients for exams
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks
