Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of Butterball's products. This position will be responsible for monitoring product attributes to ensure they meet customer specifications, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor product attributes to ensure quality and safety meet customer specifications
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Supervise Quality Assurance Technicians in the specific department
  • Responsible for retained product releases
  • Maintain technical expertise of assigned technicians through recurring training

Essential Functions:

  • Review paperwork from previous day to ensure proper procedures are followed
  • Report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies, such as the USDA
  • Supervise QA technicians to ensure they are following proper procedures
  • Walk plant floor to ensure quality and food safety
  • Communicate with all levels of management to ensure they maintain control of the process
  • Review and approve time records of technicians
  • Attend meetings and participate on cross-functional teams
  • Assist with customer and third-party audits and audit preparation
  • Troubleshoot plant quality and sanitation problems
  • Assist with facility audits
  • Assist in the development of process control procedures and monitoring
  • Assist with plant process and product improvement projects
  • Train and coach QA technicians and operations personnel as needed
  • Supervise all QA functions in the facility on weekends on a rotational basis
  • Consistently attend work for assigned schedule
  • Knowledgeable of product specifications and plant quality procedures, plant HACCP plan
  • Participate in the investigation of product failures and customer complaints
  • Attend, participate, and/or guide team meetings
  • Champion of Change Management

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by QA Manager or Director of QA
  • Promote and train on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety
  • Conduct daily SOP audits
  • Monitor contractor and construction projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Meat Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • High school education required
  • 5+ years of experience in a food quality environment

Working Conditions:

  • Cold and wet industrial environment
  • May require long periods of time on feet
  • May require a lot of walking
  • Must be able to read reports, evaluate data, and use computer
  • May require long hours
