Position Overview:
The Healthy Lifestyles Instructor is responsible for delivering social-emotional learning and prevention initiatives. This includes implementing an evidence-based education program aimed at fostering positive youth development through a structured curriculum. The role focuses on building supportive relationships with youth, promoting healthy decision-making, and enhancing self-esteem and knowledge regarding wellness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop educational materials and curricula.
  • Facilitate workshops that cover essential topics such as decision-making, identity, and relationships.
  • Provide fact-based educational sessions to youth, ensuring they receive accurate information.
  • Identify and connect youth with community resources, advocating for their needs.
  • Stay informed on current trends in health education and youth development.
  • Maintain confidential records of counseling sessions and participant profiles.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure cohesive programming.
  • Create and manage a calendar of activities and program outlines.
  • Submit reports and maintain accurate attendance logs.
  • Act as a liaison between community partners and program management.
  • Assist youth in planning and executing community service projects.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Commitment to the mission of BGCWPA and promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience working with youth.
  • Experience in teaching health-related topics to adolescents.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Proficient in building relationships with youth.
  • Interest in diverse youth programs including technology, arts, and sports.
  • Customer service skills are essential.
  • Must meet health and safety clearance requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities as needed.

Certifications:
Successful candidates will be required to obtain various certifications related to youth safety and health within specified timeframes.
