ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the mentorship of a Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer, the Project Engineer II contributes engineering expertise to various projects, tendering efforts, engineering assessments, and offshore engineering operations. Adherence to project timelines, engineering standards, and contractual commitments is essential. The Engineer Level II typically collaborates within a team but may also manage specific work packages independently. Responsibilities may include reviewing technical documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
  • Delivers specialized skills and knowledge in project or discipline engineering, including design regulations, legislative standards, and best engineering practices. Recognizes client requirements, identifies design parameters and challenges, and formulates effective solutions.
  • Works with limited oversight to assess, organize, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Takes ownership of deliverables, which may encompass engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid assessments, study documentation, and various third-party submissions.
  • Authenticates and issues technical documents as the originator or reviewer, accepting accountability for their quality.
  • May establish and track performance goals with direct reports, providing guidance and mentorship as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety objectives and legal standards.
  • Represents the organization in technical discussions with clients, subcontractors, and third parties.
  • Provides training and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the specific Engineering Centre and Project/Discipline role, such as:
  • Assisting the Principal Engineer and Project Engineering Manager in coordinating engineering efforts for successful project execution.
  • Adhering to standardized engineering policies, processes, and systems within the Business Management System (BMS).
  • Ensuring quality-driven engineering practices within the discipline.
  • Maintaining comprehensive traceability of technical developments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Verifying that specifications and scopes of work are reviewed and approved by relevant centers of expertise, capturing all quality concerns in the Quality Control Plan.
  • Offering technical support to local tendering teams.
  • Actively participating in knowledge sharing, documenting Lessons Learned, and applying Engineering Standards.
  • Understanding Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes and key SCM strategies.
  • Engaging in project risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Conducting and reviewing analysis, design, and engineering tasks related to subsea construction and installation.
  • Designing and detailing in accordance with recognized industry Codes, Standards, and Design Guidelines; Client Specifications, and Scopes of Work.
  • Collaborating with related subsea disciplines and comprehending project interfaces.
  • Providing engineering support during mobilizations and occasional offshore or site work.
  • Assisting in the development of project-specific procedures for onshore and offshore personnel in line with Subsea 7's minimum standards, which may involve direct communication with clients and subcontractors.
  • Identifying appropriate equipment for offshore operational tasks, ensuring safe and efficient operation with necessary certifications to meet regulatory requirements. Collaborating with vessel departments and third-party contractors to ensure equipment suitability for offshore operations.
  • Supporting the coordination and compilation of as-built documentation and commercial aspects of contractual changes from site/fabricators/offshore.
  • Promoting personal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community.
  • Participating in HAZID studies and Task Risk Assessments (TRAs) as outlined in procedures.
  • Interfacing with associated subsea disciplines and understanding project environments.
  • Engaging in technical discussions with clients, subcontractors, and third parties.
  • Proposing innovative solutions to reduce costs and risks.
  • Travel requirement - minimum 25% onshore and offshore.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience :
  • Professional qualifications - Engineering Degree (Demonstrable experience in a similar role will also be considered).
  • Relevant engineering experience (3+ years) in Subsea Umbilical Riser Flowline (SURF) within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas sector.
  • Familiarity with marine classification and local regulations (Essential).
  • Proven ability to operate within time and budget constraints.
  • Presents oneself in a professional manner suitable for the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
  • Identifies industry codes, standards, and design guidelines.
  • Capable of supporting package engineering and management.
