Job Title: Project Controls Specialist

About the Role:
Trendsetter Engineering Inc is seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our project control team, you will be responsible for assisting project managers in all project control duties, including reporting, cost control, estimating, scheduling, project accounting, project coordination, procurement, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage engineering release BOM data to create a time-phased material plan that supports the master schedule.
  • Understand the manufacturing build sequence to best support the overall production schedule.
  • Provide feedback to shop foremen and/or project managers on the status of open production orders/purchase orders to ensure on-time completion of schedule milestones.
  • Develop product knowledge of materials used in the manufacture of subsea production equipment.
  • Propose possible solutions to problems identified for continuous improvement concepts.
  • Interface with staff from other functions, engineering, manufacturing, or clients as needed.
  • Project cost control (budgets, change orders, forecasting).
  • Develop, maintain detailed project schedules, and identify risks/problem issues. Create workarounds, contingencies, and expedite materials as required.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate schedule execution issues.
  • Implement and maintain an earned value progress measurement system.
  • Produce progress S-curves graphs and charts.
  • Responsible for creating bi-weekly and monthly schedule reports to project managers to include critical path, project forecasts/trends, and areas of concern.
  • Create and maintain work and cost breakdown structures. Capable of identifying cost variances from budget and report variances to management as required.
  • Record and publish meeting minutes and maintain an action item register as required.
  • Maintain an MOC log and generate/steward change orders where required.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to less experienced individuals in a mentoring capacity.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • BA/BS degree in business, engineering, or management, or relevant industry experience.
  • +3-5 years of relevant project planning experience.
  • Oil & gas projects and/or subsea project experience preferred.
  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing, project management, and/or construction work sequences required.
  • Capable of communicating ideas and concepts, ability to influence others as needed, explaining why things are done the way they are within a broader organizational context.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and ERP systems such as MS Dynamics NAV.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Open-minded with a strong customer orientation.
  • Self-motivated, independent, proactive, and able to take initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills.
