Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Social Worker to join our team at Lowell General Hospital. As a Medical Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing clinical social work services to patients and families in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, family, or group modalities to patients and families in crisis situations, including issues of suicide, homicide, family violence, elder or child abuse.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and interventions to promote patient and family understanding of their needs and maximize utilization of hospital and community resources.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote a smooth, coordinated plan of care and make recommendations regarding patient and family care and management.
  • Provide medical social services to patients' family members or caregivers on a short-term basis to remove impediments to effective treatment or recovery.
  • Identify and address high-risk issues that may impact patients' progress, participation in plan, discharge, or ability to utilize resources.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to provide referrals and support as needed.
