Role Overview

The Continuous Improvement Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency across the organization. This position involves guiding and supporting various continuous improvement initiatives as directed by the Advisory Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitation and Support: Lead and assist in company-wide, departmental, or cross-functional continuous improvement projects, including preparation, planning, and execution of workshops.
  • Change Management: Serve as a change agent, promoting and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
  • Process Evaluation: Assess and recommend effective processes, equipment, and safety measures, contributing insights on capital programs and automation.
  • Training Development: Create and deliver training programs to educate employees on Lean tools and continuous improvement practices.
  • Project Management: Oversee project activities and timelines to ensure timely completion of initiatives.
  • Innovation Encouragement: Challenge existing processes and foster an environment that welcomes new ideas and solutions.
  • Benchmark Research: Investigate and identify relevant benchmarks for establishing daily management measures.
  • Barrier Identification: Recognize obstacles to change and propose solutions that align with business objectives and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Prepare and provide inputs for management reports related to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certifications: Lean or Six Sigma certification is required.
  • Lean Principles: Demonstrated experience in implementing Lean manufacturing principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, and Kaizen.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead Kaizen events and drive improvements for business results.
  • Multitasking: Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong judgment, tact, and diplomacy in interactions.
  • Team Facilitation: Ability to guide teams towards defined outcomes efficiently.
  • Coaching: Experience in coaching and providing constructive feedback.
  • Project Management Skills: Proficient in prioritizing, planning, and executing projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Project.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Ability to obtain a Government security clearance, if necessary.
