Role Overview

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency across the organization. This position involves:

  • Facilitating Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Guide and support company-wide, departmental, or cross-functional improvement projects as directed by leadership. This includes project preparation, conducting workshops, implementation, daily management, and coaching team members throughout the process.
  • Driving Change: Act as a catalyst for implementing continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • Process Evaluation: Assess and recommend effective processes, equipment, and safety measures; provide insights on capital programs and automation.
  • Training Development: Create and manage training programs to educate employees at all levels on Lean tools and continuous improvement practices.
  • Project Management: Oversee project activities and timelines to ensure timely completion of initiatives.
  • Encouraging Innovation: Challenge existing practices and promote new ideas and solutions to embed Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Benchmark Research: Identify relevant benchmarks for establishing daily management measures.
  • Overcoming Barriers: Recognize obstacles to change and propose solutions that align with business objectives and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Prepare and provide reports as required by management regarding continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certifications: Lean or Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing Expertise: Proven experience in implementing Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, SMED, A3 problem solving, Kanban, Mistake-proofing, Standard Work, Kaizen, and 5S.
  • Leadership Skills: A track record of leading Kaizen events and driving improvements to achieve business outcomes.
  • Multitasking Ability: Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Facilitation Skills: Ability to guide teams towards defined outcomes efficiently.
  • Coaching and Feedback: Experience in coaching and providing constructive feedback.
  • Project Management Skills: Proficient in prioritizing, planning, and executing projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Project.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Candidate must be able to obtain a Government security clearance if required.
