Role Summary and QualificationsThe Academic Nursing Instructor is tasked with engaging in the comprehensive responsibilities of an academic nurse educator. This includes:
- Facilitating student learning and development.
- Employing assessment and evaluation techniques.
- Participating in curriculum design, execution, and assessment.
- Evaluating program outcomes.
- Engaging in ongoing professional development.
- Contributing to scholarship and research.
- Leading and advocating for change within the educational setting.
Instructors may be assigned to teach during the day, evening, or weekends as required to meet student and institutional needs.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitating Learning:
- Creates an engaging environment that promotes student success and achievement.
- Utilizes diverse teaching methods tailored to learner needs and objectives.
- Incorporates technology to enhance the educational experience.
- Provides resources to support individual student learning.
- Guides students in their professional development as nurses.
- Acts as a faculty advisor for academic and career planning.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Employs various strategies to assess student learning across all settings.
- Delivers constructive feedback to students regarding their progress.
- Analyzes assessment data to inform course improvements.
Curriculum Development:
- Implements a curriculum aligned with professional standards and current healthcare trends.
- Regularly reviews and updates the curriculum to maintain rigor and relevance.
Continuous Professional Development:
- Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Utilizes feedback to improve instructional practices.
Leadership and Change Advocacy:
- Develops skills to lead and implement change within the educational environment.
- Mentors new faculty members as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in the applicable state.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree required.
- Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience.
