The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise and teaches courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, and adhering to academic faculty ethical and professional behaviors.
Responsibilities- Manage and supervise students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
- Keep students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Ensure each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency.
- Evaluate students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies.
- Develop, revise, and/or recommend curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
- Ensure that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy), and reflects current field practices.
- Plan each unit or lesson, both as to content and method. Provide lesson plans to the appropriate dean or designee. Publish lesson plans on course syllabus.
- Teach and maintain an effective learning environment regardless of instructional modality.
- Associate degree, required or Bachelor's preferred.
- Current professional/medical licensure or certification must be maintained during instructional period: Phlebotomy Technician - certification in phlebotomy, clinical laboratory science (MT or MLT), Nursing, Medical Assisting, Patient Care Tech, or Paramedic. EKG Technician - certification in EKG, or 1 year administering/reading EKG experience, certification in Nursing, Medical Assisting, Patient Care Tech, or Paramedic field experience.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare field, required.
- Thorough knowledge of proper safety and handling of materials used in the profession.
- CPR training or previous certification, preferred.
- Previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred with pre-planning course work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills where you can work under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn and use personal computer and various software programs utilized daily in a teaching environment, strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Comfortable with course delivery method being hybrid as needed.
Pay rate: $480 per credit hour (with potential to make much more/BOE). Schedule: 7a-10a OR 12-3:30p OR 5p-8:30p, 2 days/wk OR 5 days/wk; South Campus & HS locations.
