Job Summary

The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise and teaches courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, and adhering to academic faculty ethical and professional behaviors.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Keep students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
  • Develop, revise, and/or recommend curriculum changes that meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
  • Ensure that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy), and reflects current field practices.
  • Teach and maintain an effective learning environment regardless of instructional modality.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree or higher, preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) current progressive work experience in aviation maintenance required.
  • Qualifications required for mandatory program accreditation.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate, required.
  • Extensive experience with FAA/FAR Part 147 requirements, General Aviation Maintenance, and previous teaching or training experience in adult education preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to work with students, technical, and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills where you can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn and use personal computer and various software programs utilized daily in a teaching environment, strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Comfortable with course delivery method being hybrid as needed.
