This position is for a Lead International Trade Advisor within the International Trade Administration Global Markets (GM), Asia, Office of South Asia, at the Department of Commerce.


Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead International Trade Advisor, your role will encompass the following responsibilities:

Essential Qualifications:

Experience Requirements:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience that is comparable in complexity and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience refers to the expertise that has prepared the applicant with the necessary competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the position. This experience does not have to be obtained within the federal government.

Experience includes both paid and unpaid roles, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work contributes to the development of critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, providing valuable training and experience that can be directly applicable to paid employment.

All qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, will be credited.

To qualify at the GS-15 level:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

You must have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service.


Specialized experience is characterized by:

Comprehensive understanding of U.S. trade policy; Designing, coordinating, and leading the formulation of trade policy and export promotion strategies; Independently conducting research and analysis for senior officials; Crafting policy or strategy recommendations for senior officials on international trade or commercial matters; Facilitating consensus through international negotiations with U.S. interagency or international entities; Overseeing trade promotion initiatives; Effectively communicating information, both verbally and in writing, regarding pertinent economic, trade, or commercial issues or legislation to senior or high-ranking officials within and outside the government; Experience in team leadership and/or staff supervision.
