Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to live independently and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities, medication administration, and mobility support.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and caregivers to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, promoting independence and community integration.
  • Administer medications and provide medical support as needed, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, behavioral support, and person-centered care.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, special education) preferred.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting, as needed.
