Job Overview:
Somerville Public Schools seeks a seasoned educational leader to serve as the Program Administrator for its Adult Basic Education (ABE) program. This pivotal role requires an individual with exceptional instructional leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of adult academic excellence.

About the Role:
This position is responsible for overseeing the ABE program, ensuring compliance with DESE guidelines, and promoting academic excellence among students. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Education or a related field, five years of successful teaching experience in adult education, and experience in curriculum development, grant writing, and supervisory roles.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement high-quality curricula aligned with CCRSAE standards and ELA Curriculum Framework
- Identify professional development needs and coordinate activities to meet ABE staff goals
- Collaborate with ELL Program Administrator, HISET Chief Examiner, ADP Assessor, and SHS Guidance department on programmatic issues
- Design and oversee distance learning programs for working adult learners
- Provide instructional support for ELL literacy and instruction to GOAL staff and students
- Develop strategic plans for integrated education and training in collaboration with Director of Continuing Education and ELL Program administrator
- Serve as Technology Integration and Assistive Technology coordinator to enhance digital literacy and accessibility
- Maintain compliance with SPS district hiring practices and DESE assessments
- Supervise ABE staff, evaluate part-time and full-time staff, and oversee student intake and placement
- Manage department budgets, invoices, and reports to funding sources
- Determine and order instructional materials and supplies
- Coordinate intra- and interdepartmental meetings and communications
- Initiate, write, negotiate, and implement proposals, grants, and contracts
- Represent Somerville Public Schools with local agencies, statewide organizations, and funders

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Education, Administration, or related field
- Five years of successful teaching experience in adult education
- Experience in curriculum development, grant writing, and supervisory roles
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole is preferred
- Certification as a MAPT, STAR, or HISET assessor is preferred

Salary Range:
$65,000 - $85,000 per year
