Position Overview
The Smithsonian Institution is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. This role is integral to the operations of the National Museum of Asian Art's Freer Research Center (FRC). The successful candidate will support various administrative and financial functions while contributing to the museum's mission of enhancing public understanding of Asian art.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate on and manage projects, including scheduling meetings, documenting discussions, and tracking progress.
  • Assist visitors, researchers, and interns in accessing the museum's collections.
  • Provide logistical support for scholarly programs, both in-person and virtual.
  • Help develop annual budgets and maintain financial records in line with institutional policies.
  • Review financial reports and work with the Finance Team to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of publication materials and coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Support data entry and archiving efforts for scholarly programs.
  • Respond to public inquiries and represent the FRC in museum committees.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Knowledge of art history or related fields is preferred.
  • Experience in program or publication development is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles.
