About the Role

Koppert Biological Systems is seeking an experienced sales professional to join our team as a Field Sales Representative. This role involves offering technical assistance to our corn and soybean farmers in Indiana and Illinois, while leading a team of 1-3 sales specialists.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager to position and sell our biological products effectively.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret field trial data to provide valuable insights to potential growers.
  • Consult with retailers in the industry to understand their specific requirements and challenges regarding our products.
  • Drive product promotion and education through participation in cold calls, trade shows, conferences, and social media to enhance brand visibility.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of Koppert products, agricultural methodologies, and market strategies.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in agronomy or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience OR bachelor's degree in agronomy or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working in the agriculture industry, with on-farm experience strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a sales-based role with a proven track record of success strongly preferred.
  • Strong demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with the ability to get results through self and others.
Qualifications
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills; ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Capable of making confident, data-driven decisions.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of ag inputs and diverse application practices (in-furrow/other seed treatment processes).
  • Possess strategic thinking, analytical, and entrepreneurial skills with the ability to adapt to new environments.
  • Work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent amount of commercial travel to visit customers, attend trade shows, and company meetings; this role will require you to travel up to 70% of the time with overnight stays at least 50% of the time.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions while on technical visits or running field trials.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 70% of the time.
  • Ability to control emotions under various levels of pressures, stress, and fast-paced activities.
