Animal Care Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Animal Care Technician to join our team at Actalent. As an Animal Care Technician, you will be responsible for providing professional husbandry and care to a variety of laboratory animals, including mice, rats, frogs, and other species.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform husbandry and health checks for all species on campus, as well as new species that arrive for future studies.
- Change cages, clean stalls, wash, autoclave, and prepare animal caging components for use in the animal facilities.
- Use specialized equipment, including rack washer, bulk autoclave, steam gun, and skid steer.
- Work with animals exposed to biological, chemical, and radiation hazards.
- Perform other cleaning and maintenance duties as necessary.
Work Environment:
You will work onsite within different facilities that house the Laboratory Animal Program (LAP), which is made up of four different departments (Bindley/Jischke, Hansen/Pharmacy, LSA, and Vet Med). Each facility has rooms dedicated to specific tasks, such as Cage Wash, Husbandry, Inventory, and more.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in animal care or a related field preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
