Senior Rare Disease Research Project Director

This is a key position in our Rare Disease Research organization, responsible for assisting in the development and integration of portfolio strategy across rare bleeding disorders, rare endocrine disorders, and haemoglobinopathies areas in Denmark and the USA.
Key Responsibilities- Holds project portfolio responsibility for rare disease research
- Supports the establishment and maintenance of cross-functional alignment within GDD, GRT, R&ED, Development, Medical Affairs, Commercial, insights, and portfolio strategy teams in the rare disease organization
- Drives cross-functional innovation and represents Rare D in Novel, Pre-Project Portfolio, and GNAT
- Facilitates external opportunity EIC pool and participates in the evaluation of rare disease collaboration and BD opportunities
- Collaborates with rare disease Research Scientists, Biology leads, technical leads, PMs, and PVPs for governance interactions
- Participates in LT work and strategy setting for RDR portfolio
- Helps the TA head and RDR-LT to effectively communicate the portfolio strategy
- Contributes to progress on portfolio goals and Rare D and GDD strategic priorities and internal/external innovation
- Reports to the CVP Rare Disease Research and develops and maintains an organizational network to drive RDR impact
- Project Portfolio responsibilities: Ensure efficient project execution, promote research plans, and contribute to the development of and execution of research strategy
- Securing global scientific cross-organizational collaboration and ensuring seamless collaboration with other areas, e.g., GNAT, GRT, and the Pre-Project Portfolio Team
- Scientific research within rare diseases, including identifying and exploring new therapeutic targets and principles across the Rare Disease Research indication areas
- Understanding of drug development, the global project framework, and in-depth understanding of in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo techniques
- Providing key expertise within project progression and directly supporting the portfolio in the RDR Innovation Focus Group, pre-G0-projects, G0-projects, and post-G0 projects
- Expert participation in the evaluation of BD opportunities, coordinating scientific evaluation of external assets, and collaborating with Scientist(s) and Research projects
- PhD in a relevant field is required
- A minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience is required
- A subject matter expert in rare diseases, with knowledge in early research and drug development in rare disease, with a high level of creativity & curiosity and a strong innovative mindset
- Ability to communicate at all levels across NN and convince/challenge internal stakeholders up to EVP management team level
- Fluency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite for the role with good communication skills and cross-cultural understanding to interact in the global organization
