Position Overview

As a key member of the Plumbing Department, the Plumbing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing plumbing operations to ensure a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for the University community. This role involves supervising a team dedicated to the repair, installation, and modification of plumbing systems and fixtures.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Team Leadership**: Plan, prioritize, assign, and supervise the work of staff involved in plumbing, gas, domestic water, and swimming pool maintenance.
2. **Cost Estimation**: Assess time and material costs for work orders and projects, sharing relevant data with management.
3. **Material Management**: Order and procure materials in accordance with established guidelines and budgetary constraints, while maintaining inventory records.
4. **Preventive Maintenance**: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, recommend repair project priorities, and respond to emergency situations as needed.
5. **Technical Proficiency**: Safely operate plumbing tools and equipment, including soldering and brazing tools, cutting torches, and sewer machines.
6. **Compliance**: Install, service, and maintain plumbing systems in accordance with the uniform plumbing code, ADA requirements, and local regulations.
7. **Training**: Provide training or coordinate training sessions on plumbing maintenance and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• A Technical Degree in plumbing or a Plumbers' License is preferred, along with 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Alternatively, a high school diploma/GED with a Plumbers' License and 5 years of relevant experience, including supervisory roles, is acceptable.

Required Skills

- Valid driver's license
- KY Journeyman Plumbing license
- Licensed for backflow preventer testing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work with various plumbing-related equipment
- Physical capability to perform tasks requiring medium to heavy exertion, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
