Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Operations Supervisor to join our Molecular and PBMC laboratory team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising daily work activities, ensuring efficient and effective scientific and administrative operations, and maintaining high-quality laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily laboratory activities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair clinical laboratory equipment within the scope of training.
  • Oversee and review area weekly and monthly Quality Control and maintain QC database.
  • Set up and validate new assays as assigned by the manager.
  • Perform and report routine and complex laboratory analyses that require advanced evaluation and judgment skills.
  • Ensure that quality control procedures are carried out and monitor and resolve instrument problems.
  • Implement new technology and instruments for the unit according to established protocols.
  • Gather data for quality improvement activities within the section and participate in comparison studies of precision, accuracy, and linearity for new or existing assays.
  • Develop new policies and procedures for the unit and write Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Serve as a mentor to team members, providing guidance and reviewing and checking work.
  • Train and assess the competency of staff in the unit and issue formal evaluations.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire new staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • 5+ years of previous experience in Molecular and/or PBMC labs that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility.
