JOB SUMMARY:

The Control Room Operations Supervisor is accountable to the Plant Manager and is responsible for guiding, leading, and overseeing a team of operational staff in a diverse, multi-skilled plant setting at a Fossil power facility. This role is essential in ensuring the safe, efficient, and dependable functioning of the plant. The Supervisor will plan and coordinate plant operations and workforce allocation to fulfill production requirements. This position emphasizes the importance of safety programs for employees and contractors, promotes ongoing enhancements in plant operations and maintenance, and plays an active role in budget formulation and the prudent management of financial resources. The Control Room Operations Supervisor will also design, implement, and continuously assess programs under their purview by leveraging metrics and reviewing key performance indicators.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accountable for safety, compliance, budgeting, reliability, and all facets of plant operations.
  • Directs operational and maintenance personnel, organizes shift resources, and addresses staffing challenges.
  • Provides leadership and fosters the development of team members to nurture a culture of operational excellence.
  • Supports human performance improvement initiatives focusing on shared understanding, accountability, and constructive feedback.
  • Ensures adherence to safe work practices and processes, compliance with plant protocols, and effective operation and maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Creates procedures, checklists, and performance metrics to monitor process controls, ensuring all operational, maintenance, and regulatory obligations are met.
  • Collaborates with the system planning organization to optimize plant output, schedule unit testing, and manage planned outages.
  • Establishes and maintains robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners.
  • Stays informed of the latest industry advancements and applies them to drive continuous improvement.
  • Assists in budget/project development and cost management for both short-term and long-term planning.
  • Prepares and oversees budget in designated areas to effectively manage deviations from the approved annual budget.
  • Leads end-to-end contract management and contractor oversight for routine and outage work.
  • Evaluates and advocates for actions that align with the company's overall business strategy.
  • Utilizes lessons learned to refine operating procedures, training plans, and operational strategies.
  • Provides leadership and technical guidance for troubleshooting and collaborates with vendors and subject matter experts to enhance team and site performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preference for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering or equivalent experience (e.g., 10 years in power plant operations).
Minimum Experience:
  • With a technical degree: 5+ years in Power Plant Operations/Maintenance or engineering experience.
  • Without a degree: 10+ years of power plant experience.
  • Desired: Experience in a fossil power plant environment.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of power plant operational and maintenance practices, including safety procedures.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with contractors and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage team members and plant personnel in pursuit of operational excellence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities across all organizational levels.
  • Capability to swiftly and accurately address complex issues with innovative solutions.
  • History of accountability for achieving results.
