Engineering Technologist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technologist to join our team at the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University. As a key member of our Characterization and Testing Department, you will play a critical role in supporting research activities within the Materials Design and Optimization Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware Fabrication and Testing: Design, develop, and implement hardware solutions to meet research objectives.
- Custom System Design: Develop and implement custom electrical, mechanical, and software systems to support research activities.
- Test Planning and Reporting: Plan, execute, and document test plans and reports to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Product Development: Provide input on engineering products and contribute to the development of new technologies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Troubleshoot and maintain test equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Training and Development: Train interns and staff on new technologies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: Three years of relevant experience in engineering or a related field.
- Skills: Proficiency in engineering drawing, Microsoft Office, mechanical assembly, and other relevant skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Materials and Structures Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of materials and structures.
- Advanced Equipment Experience: Experience with advanced equipment and technologies.
- Process Development: Ability to develop and implement new processes and technologies.
