The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and orderly registration of all patients at Phoenix Children's Hospital. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills to act as the primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services. The ideal candidate will be able to prepare admission forms, obtain necessary documentation and signatures, and confirm demographic information in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients who present for professional and hospital services, collecting co-pay and deductible amounts as necessary.
- Accurately document all information in the patient's account, maintaining accuracy when entering demographic and insurance information.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering phone calls and responding to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify and refer uninsured and underinsured patients to the Financial Counselor for assistance.
- Utilize the patient account system to identify any previous unpaid liability and take necessary steps to resolve the issue.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with patients, guarantors, insurance companies, government entities, clinical personnel, co-workers, and management to promote teamwork and a positive public image for Phoenix Children's Hospital.
- Organize and prioritize daily work activities to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant registration is performed in a timely manner.
- Participate in educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
- Perform registration in the HIS system, verify insurance coverage, and obtain authorization for patients who present for professional and hospital services.
