Job Title: Access Control Coordinator

Ascent, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Access Control Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and secure environment of our data centers and other mission critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access.
  • Patrol the premises and monitor surveillance equipment to detect and prevent security breaches.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and access points to identify potential security risks.
  • Report and assist with escalation duties related to major problems impacting business or site outages.
  • Ensure all established policies and procedures are maintained and followed.
  • Make decisions with an understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve desired results.
  • Responsible for monitoring of the property and access control.
  • May be required to control traffic by directing drivers and enforce parking regulations.
  • Document work in various Ascent and client systems after work has been scheduled.
  • Reports atypical situations to management.
  • Escalates all emergency, fire, and safety hazards.
  • Promotes positive public relations by offering courteous service to customers, visitors, and guests and responding to their requests.
  • Monitors and controls the building's life safety system and central access control systems.
  • Provides escort for guests, visitors, and contractors as required.
  • Provides insight to improve all department procedures to increase efficiencies and service levels.
  • Assesses monitoring faults and prioritizes and escalates accordingly.
  • Informs violators of policy and procedures.
  • Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, obtaining signatures.
  • Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  • Ensures work, assignments, and projects successfully meet assigned deadlines.
  • May act as the Shipping and Receiving Technician for all freight deliveries and shipments, when necessary. Logs freight into and out of the track system and takes customer deliveries to secure storage for pickup.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years' prior customer service experience required. Prior experience working as an Access Control Specialist, in a data center environment, or in military or law enforcement preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic access control systems functions preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, detail-oriented, and prioritization skills required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to effectively respond, verbally or written, to tough issues, general inquiries, or complaints.
  • Proficient with MS Office Package.
  • Must have strong customer service orientation and ability to build customer relationships by building trust.
  • Solid work ethic and integrity, able to work effectively and be self-directed is required.
  • A good understanding of all applicable rules, laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances in performing access control responsibilities.
  • Ability to assess and solve problems involving several options with limited information.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Flexibility, including the willingness and ability to readily respond to changing circumstances and expectations. Openness to new ideas and procedures.
  • Ability to work autonomously/independently, with moderate supervision and oversight.
  • Ability to effectively respond, verbally or written, to sensitive issues, complex inquiries, or complaints. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex project documents. Ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Candidate should be able to work independently and also as part of a team and must have the ability to learn new technologies.
  • Must be an eager and motivated individual who excels in a team environment.
  • Must be available to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule and work alternate shifts as needed as is typical in a 24-7 data center security environment.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours), walk long distances both inside and outside, reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, reach overhead, climb stairs, ladders, etc. as needed, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform essential duties both inside and outside, in both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Ability to work in an environment that involves exposure to wet (and humidity), extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, and mechanical, electrical, radiant energy, explosive, and burn hazards.
