Job Summary

The Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health is seeking an experienced finance professional to fill the role of Senior Financial Specialist. This position will provide fiscal and budgetary support, performing financial management and analysis, procurement, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct financial analyses and assessments to inform decision-making regarding resource allocation.
  • Participate in the annual budget development process and provide recommendations for the upcoming budget cycle.
  • Work with the COO to realign budgets and assist the research administration team with monitoring research accounts.
  • Provide guidance and training to researchers and staff on financial policies, procedures, and systems.
Accounting and Fiscal Functions
  • Promptly and accurately process all financial transactions.
  • Monitor spending and maintain awareness of programmatic issues, escalating any potential problems.
  • Reconcile assigned indexes on a monthly basis using reports from VCU and MCV Foundation.
Procurement Services
  • Process purchase requests in accordance with University Procurement Services' policies and procedures.
  • Support complex procurement and contract processing.
  • Follow up to ensure timely requisition receiving and payment of all university invoices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred, with 1-3 years of experience in a financial administrative role.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, ability to analyze financial transactions, and create reports and tracking tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to frequent changes in work assignments.
